I prayed to my god for peace, my family, for my people and for my country
Glenn’s Back story: I wrote this in response to our government going to war with Iran. A war which so many people on both sides do not want. I believe that most people want peace.

i have no name
live on a street
with no name
or at least
not a name your tongue
could ever learn
to pronounce
i was killed
by a bomb
meant for a concept
for a government
i never believed in
i was a peaceful man
tended to my garden
loved my god
my family
never cared much
for politics
or those who ruled
i went to my house of worship
prayed to my god
prayed for peace
prayed for my people
my family
my country
and my troops
you can love your country
and distrust your government
you can pray for your soldiers
most of which
are peaceful
ordinary people
caught in a story
that no one wants to hear
bombs
do not hear prayers
bombs have no hearts
sometimes i wondered
if the people making these weapons
have no hearts
as well
maybe my killers
didn’t like the way i looked
the way i prayed
maybe they
were just products
of propaganda
i have no name
live on a street with no name
or at least
not one
you tongue
could ever pronounce
i am just collateral damage
